Want to get organized and clean out that file cabinet? I was extremely impressed with the Fujitsu SnapScan S510. It will help you to be more organized than you ever thought possible Not only is it small enough to keep on my desk, it worked great and really helped me turn volumes of paperwork into digital files. It's expensive, but it's worth every penny. Try the ScanSnap S510.
What's more impressive is that it can scan both sides of a page at once, meaning the output is closer to 36 pages a minute. CardMinder did a great job with cards, though it stumbled over a card from a colleague in Argentina. Promotional brochures claim it can scan at 18 pages a minute, and that seems to be the case. The quality of the scans was flawless But after changing the Recognition language to Spanish, it performed perfectly and exported the file to Excel quickly. I wasn't prepared for how fast and efficiently this scanner works.
A file-encryption option helps keep documents safe from prying eyes The scanner scans directly to searchable PDFs even without launching Acrobat. PDFs are created with the touch of a button, and the ScanSnap Organizer software helps put everything in the right place. ScanSnap also allows scanning directly into Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. In fact, there aren't a whole lot of buttons on the machine, save a Scan and a Power button.
Since I use a (rather old) laptop, I'm always reluctant to load three CDs of software to make a scanner work; but since the software is useful, it's hard to complain about that. It's not cheap--you'll pay more for this little scanner than a whole lot of all-in-ones--so make sure you plan on using it a lot There were few complaints.
